The Gambia national women’s team will step into the Stadium this evening to defend the national flag against their mates from Burkina Faso in the battle for place in the next round of the African Women’s football Nations Cup.

The Gambia has never qualified to the tournament proper but has tasted the big party at Under 17 level in 2012 in Azerbaijan. Guided by Mariama Bom Sowe, these girls have vowed to sweat their way over Burkina where they collected a vital away goal in the first leg on Saturday.

The Girls need to score only one goal and stop the visitors from replying to be home and dry. But with 2 goals in their bag Burkina will be inspired to finish the job today which makes this evening\s encounter not just a hen party, but a keenly delicate matter that will keep everyone on the edge. Nigeria awaits the winner of this tie.
