Ebola response gets half a million dalasis boost

On Monday, a cheque of D500, 000 was handed over to Gambia’s minister for Health and Social Welfare, Omar Sey, by Action Aid International The Gambia during a brief ceremony held at the latter’s conference room in Kanifing.

Omar Badjie, Country Director, Action Aid International The Gambia, described the contribution of his organization as modest, indicating that, they would continue to work closely with the ministry of health to ensure that The Gambia remains Ebola free.

“We have seen how this dreadful disease has affected our tourism sector,” he said.

He also revealed that apart from the financial contribution from his office, they have also printed posters and videos to be used for public sensitization.

Minister Omar Sey, in receiving the cheque, commended Action Aid International The Gambia for its contribution in health sector. 

He assured of his ministry’s support and collaboration in improving the country’s health sector.

Meanwhile, the money is earmarked for the training of youths, traditional healers and peer health educators on Ebola.
