A local educational support organisation dubbed “Lets Support Education” has joined the crusade in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic, with a donation of sanitary and other provisions to the community of Jinack Niggi.
The materials which include sanitisers, buckets and other detergents geared to support efforts in the fight against the invincible pandemic, were handed over to the village health committee members in a ceremony attended by the Alkalo, Imam, VDC members and village council elders.
According to the organisation’s chairperson Sulayman Bojang, the donation is part of national calls to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
He explained that the items would be placed at strategic locations of the island and called on the villagers to make the best use of the materials and strictly follow health guidelines and precautionary measures to prevent the virus from making any headways.
Alkalo Sheriff Bojang thanked the organisation and its donors for a ‘timely intervention’ and advised his people to maintain all stipulated mechanisms and also urged their children to heed to the guidelines crucial in the fight against Covid-19.
Imam Omar Jatta hailed the donors for their contribution and immense sacrifices towards the development of their native village.
Imam Jatta prayed for their continuous guidance and urged the organisation to continue its strive towards humanity.
Other speakers including Seedy Jallow, Burama Bojang and Buba Bojang a village health worker warned against complacency and called on the villagers to strictly follow all the WHO guidelines to ensure persons entering or leaving the shores of the island adhere to wash hands and other sanitary measures.
“Let’s Support Education” is a local based organisation established in 2017 with the objective of supporting children of Jinack in the areas of education.
