The Gambia national football league title could be decided tonight at the Independence Stadium when leaders Fortune take on second place Wallidan. A solid 9 points separate the two sides with only four matches to the end of the league. If the Petroleum Boys from Farato beat Wallidan tonight, they would establish a 12-point lead and with three matches to go then, no team can pip them to the title. The leaders could have by now been champions had they beaten Gamtel last week. But they lost 1-0 cutting their lead to 9 points after Wallidan won to take second place. Coach Jane Joof of Fortune is still regretting that setback and delay to his title race and would tonight fire up his boys to march on to history.
However, the opposition, Wallidan is currently on a resurgent ride and has every reason to aspire to destroy Fortune tonight and cut their lead to 6 points. That kind of result would endanger Fortune’s title ambition.
