GAMBIA IN 16-TEAM WAFU DRAW

The Gambia was among the 16- nation membership of the West African Football Union, Wafu, that went into the draw yesterday to determine the groupings of the regional championship slated for September. The draw took place in Ghana the host country for the tournament starting in early September in Cape Coast and Secondi. The Gambia will meet host Ghana on September 9th in her first round paring.

The second vice president of the GFF Ebou Faye is said to have flown to Ghana to witness the draw as well as attend a pre- tournament workshop. The championship, sponsored by Fox News Group, will so far be the main activity of a rejuvenated Wafu now split into Zones A and B. The championship will be competed by domestic league players example the Gambia will be represented by the CHAN team from September 9 to the 24th. The winners of each pair move onto the last eight.
