Gambia amputee football team off to Tanzania

The Gambia amputee national football team Monday left for Tanzania to take part in the African Nation’s Cup. The tournament in Darussalam will take place from November 25 to 5 December and it will also serve as qualifiers for the World amputee football tournament in Turkey.

The team’s participation was supported by Legs of Africa which provided 17 flight tickets. The president of Real de Banjul FC Willy Abraham donated a full set of jerseys while the president of Gambia Football Federation Lamin Kabba Bajo supported in the procurement of a second set of jerseys.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports took responsibility of the other logistics, such as transportation to Senegal to catch their flight and allowances.

This is the first time The Gambia will take part in this competition.

In a related but separated development, the Real De Banjul boss also donated two wheelchairs to Gambia National Paralympic Committee.
