Gambia appoints coach, selects squad for volleyball qualifiers

The Gambia Volleyball Federation (GVBF) yesterday announced the appointment of Saikou Omar Bargie as head coach of the country’s men volleyball team ahead of the Zone II volleyball qualifiers for the 2019 African Games.
Bargie who is also the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) volleyball men’s team coach will lead the team under “non-contract basis” during the Zone II volleyball qualifiers for the 2019 African Games, which will be hosted in Banjul next month.

Bargie’s task, according to the technical director of the GVBF, Alagie Ceesay, is to secure qualification to the 12th edition of the African Games, which will be hosted in the Kingdom of Morocco, in August this year.
Bargie, who guided GAF to the league title in 2016, has already named a provisional list of 18 home-based players to begin training with on May 20th. Four players based in Qatar will join them to complete the team before the games.
