The Constitutive Congress of the Gambia For All (GFA) Party which took place at Djembe Hotel was attended by forty nine delegates out of fifty three constituencies.
In addition, there were representatives from the Diaspora. The main objectives of the Congress were to: Review and approve the draft Constitution of the party, elect party officials, establish guidelines in the form of resolutions on certain thematic areas of particular interest to the party which includes, development of genuine participatory democracy, women’s empowerment for sustainable nation building, youth participation in the national political process; and conquering the political space (at home and in the Diaspora) challenges on GFA’s path to participatory democracy.
The overall Congress was conducted in an atmosphere of peace characterised by seriousness and commitment. The Congress elected the following officials: Party leader and Secretary General-Hon, Bakary Bunja Darbo, Party national chairman-Salieu Taal, national treasurer-Ndambou Touray and Chief mobilizer Fabakary Sidi Fadera.
The party leader and secretary general and entire new executive wish to thank the delegates, supporters and well-wishers, both within The Gambia and in the Diaspora, for their contribution in making the Congress a resounding success.
