85 GAF men return from Saudi training

Eighty-five Gambian soldiers have returned home Friday from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after completing a one-month training on anti terrorism.
The contingent Commander was Colonel Alhagie Sanneh who said 23 countries participated in the training.

In receiving the soldiers at the Banjul International Airport, Commodore Madani Senghor, Commander Gambia Navy who spoke on half of Lieutenant General Masanneh Kinteh, Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces, thanked the returing soldiers for their wonderful performance.
He said the feedback CDS Kinteh got was exceptional. “So you are worthy ambassadors of the Gambia Armed Forces and the country as a whole. We are also glad that you went with peace and you came with peace; no injuries, sickness and no disciplinary problem,” he said.

Commodore Senghore also applauded the Contingent Commander and the Senior Officers who accompanied them for having taken care of them and also to ensure all the assignments are fulfilled.
Speaking to journalists Colonel Alhagie Sanneh, contingent commander said: “We did not go to Saudi Arabia to fight a war; it was on the invitation of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom that the CDS was able to seek permission from the Commander in-Chief for the participation of The Gambia Armed Forces in this exercise.”
According to Sanneh they were all given the privilege to perform Umra and during their stay, they did not encounter any challenges.
