A group dedicated to help the less-privilege, Burr Njie Foundation, on Thursday donated sanitary materials to Gunjur Upper and senior schools.
This gesture according to the members of the Foundation is earmarked to conserve the school’s premises, clean as well as ensure that students are protected from all forms of unhygienic conditions that will be detrimental to their health.
The Foundation also sensitized over fifty (50) students on personal hygiene, education and the dangers of early sex.

In his opening remarks, the principal of the school, Yahya M Jobe said this move by the Burr Njie Foundation will cement a bond between his school and the foundation, adding that all “what we need is development. If you want to develop the school with the resources you have, we will be grateful and open our doors for you.
“You cannot achieve anything in life without hard work,” he said, noting that a good or bad school depends on the students and not the teachers. He urged the students to be proactive in their education in order to realize their full potentials in life.

Also speaking at the event, the founder and CEO of the Foundation, Ebrima Njie pointed out that the motive behind the formation of this foundation is driven by the inspiration and motivation he got from the people.
“When you have setbacks in life people tend to sideline you in the society. I urge you the students not to fall on that track.

“The most important thing is if you have the heart and determination, you will make it. These are ideas and philosophies I used to establish this foundation,” he added.

Muhammed Jammeh, secretary general of Burr Njie Foundation, said the foundation is here to support and mentor students to choose right career path as well as champion the course of education in the country.
He tasked the students to “utilize the opportunity to excel in life, read as much as possible and ensure that you be a pacesetter in your future aspiration. If you want to preach more people then you have to know more and read as much”, he said.
