Organisation donates food items worth over D300,000

Jurarim Orgsinsation for Youth Excellence recently donated food items worth over 300,000 dalasi to 30 different households under Jurarim organisation for excellence scholarship package at a presentation held in Brikama Jamisa.

Speaking, Mathew Gomez, said JOYE is a U.S. nonprofit organization that was founded over 9 years ago, and the main objective of the organisation is to provide a beneficial learning environment for underprivileged children in The Gambia through education assistance. Its original mission is to provide educational sponsorship to children from marginalized families. The sponsorships include supplies, school fees, food program, excursions, after-school tutoring, hygiene products, and much more.
“We also engage in projects like clean water, seeding program and free summer tutoring and camp,”he explained.

He stated that they will continue to monitor the situation of JOYEbeneficiaries and their families to access the need for further assistance.
He added that in the mean time, we encourage you to adhere to the Ministry of Health orders regarding your safety against the disease.
Abdoulie Jammeh, JOYE Gambia Volunteer, urged students to make best use of their books especially when there is no school due to the pandemic but they can always follow lessons on radios or online.

“I am also sponsored by JOYE up to my university level,” he said.
Donald Ayo Greywoode, office manager, said “as the world faces this COVID-19 pandemic, the safety and health of our beneficiaries is a top priority. With the current lockdown in place. We want to ensure that our beneficiaries are getting their basic food necessities met. Therefore, we are providing each family with a bag of rice, sugar, and oil.”
Ansumana Jatta, a student under Jurarim organisation for excellence scholarship, thanked the foundation for the scholarship and for encouraging them and for providing them with food.

Speaking on behalf of parents, Penda Camara, said the items will go a long way in alleviating hardships especially in this trying time of the COVID -19 in the country.
She urged her fellow parents to make best use of the donated items by Jurarim organisation for excellence.
