More than 200 witnesses have testified at the Janneh Commission, the enquiry into the financial dealings of former president Jammeh, his family and close associates. They include businesspersons, contractors and civil servants.
Among the witnesses, 67 were known to have been served with asset declaration forms while a number of others had their assets temporarily frozen.
The enquiry was established last year with an initial mandate of three months but that has been extended several times, the latest taking the commission’s life to November 2019. Subsequent to this, they are expected to send a report containing recommendations to the president for final determination.
After a few week’s recess, The Standard understands that sittings will resume today at their Djembe Hotel base.
