Yaya Sanyang, national Covid-19 coordinator, has told journalists yesterday that The Gambia secured funding to get one million and twenty thousand doses of Covid-19 vaccines through World Bank.

He said putting it all together, The Gambia is looking at vaccine accessibility to well over 1.6 million Gambians before the end of the year and that’s above sixty percent of the country’s population.

According to him, the best way for The Gambia to get back its economy and get its life again is through vaccination. He said life will surely come back to normal through vaccination, adding that vaccines have been the best public health tool humanity has ever made.

He revealed that Covid-19 vaccines have been sent to all health centres in the country and advised people that vaccination is the best tool to combat Covid-19, in addition to the basic preventive measures the ministry has outlined.
