By Juldeh Njie & Isatou Jawara The Gambia and Senegal have signed bilateral fisheries and Aquaculture agreement to strengthen both countries’ fishing industries. The agreement was made between the two presidents during President Barrow’s historic visit to the Republic of Senegal .The signing ceremony was held at Kairaba Beach Hotel attended by the Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources Mr James Gomez and the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime of Senegal Mr Omar Gaye and attended by technical experts from both countries. The Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Mr Omar Gaye while speaking at the event said the bilateral agreement will boost the Gambian fishing industry as each year five Gambians will be trained at the Dakar School of Maritime. He said as Aquaculture is expanding globally the agreement process the two countries will work together to strengthen the aquaculture industry and invest heavily in this area. The Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources Mr James Gomez said his Government intends to create youth employment especially the fishing industry through capacity building job creations.]]>
