A taxi driver believed to be Gambian in the United States has been put in jail after he was arrested and charged with raping a 16-year-old girl.
Police said the attack happened early Monday morning somewhere along South Norcross Tucker Road in between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Old Norcross Tucker Road in Georgia State.
Abdoulie Jagne of College Park was arrested Thursday.

Police said the 16-year-old told investigators she’d been at a local bar Sunday night drinking with friends. One of the girl’s friends called her an Uber and police said Jagne picked her up and then raped her.
Jagne eventually dropped her off at her destination, an apartment complex along Old Norcross Tucker Road, police said.began banging on several of the homes in the neighborhood, and one of those residents called 911,” said Gwinnett Cpl. Michele Pihera. “One of those neighbors did notice that her pants were around her ankles.”

Police said the girl appeared to be extremely intoxicated. Police did not say which bar the girl may have been drinking at because they are still investigating. They said employees there could face charges.
“I think that she’ll make a full recovery physically. I can only imagine, emotionally, she’ll have a little bit longer of a recovery,” Pihera said.

Officers say evidence gathered from Uber support the girl’s claims.
“We know that from the start location to the end location it should have taken a short amount of time, but based on the trip data it took even longer. Again, more corroboration to her story,” Pihera said.
Investigators said they now want to know if there are any other victims. If so, they’re asked to call Gwinnett police.

Uber said Jagne had only been driving for a couple of months. They are working with police on the investigation.
