The Gambia will mark its début in the Africa cup of nations on January 12, against Mauritania at the group’s base in Limbe town Eastern Cameroon. This will be a historic day for the national team which is being gradually built and prepared for this continental show piece in January. Most Gambians are relieved that the first match seems to be a manageable fight against the not too much fancied Mauritania.
However, 4 days later, on January 16, the Scorpions would come across Mali, considered to be a formidable side currently in Africa and no stranger to the Afcon. If that proves to be a hard nut to crack for The Gambia, then a clash with North African giants Tunisia will require even more spirit.
