The national GSM operator, Gamcel, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Brusubi on Tuesday presented a brand new SUV Korando 4 wheel car and other items to winners of their joint raffle at a ceremony held at the Youth Monument, Westfield.
Presiding over the ceremony, Elizabeth Mendy-Johnson, Gamcel’s General Manager, said her institution believes in sharing with Gambians since it is owned by Gambians and working to provide services for the Gambian people.

She said this objective also meets the mandate of the Rotary Club and that’s why they came together to support communities. “We have journeyed together with our customers in so many forums and we are saying to them to stay with us and we will be with them and make sure they are happy, ” she said, while thanking the entire customer base of Gamcel.
Sarjo Khan, Director of Customer Services, congratulated the teams from Gamcel and Rotary Club of Brusubi for a job well done. He said even though the campaign has not been easy, it was most successful and the partnership between Gamcel and the Rotary Club of Brusubi will continue. Mr Khan said Gamcel has always been the company for the people and will continue to be for the people.

Omar Jallow, Rotary Club of Brusubi, spoke about many humanitarian activities conducted by his Club. He called on Gambians to join Rotary, saying the more Rotarians they have the better they will be able to support Gambians in areas other institutions are not focusing on.
He said the initiative to work with Gamcel on this project is an innovative idea that is better than having to sit and wait for donations to come from outside.
Manyima Cham-Njie, Gamcel’s senior manager marketing, said Gamcel has over the years contributed immensely to the development of Gambians as well as to every sector of the country. “We are passionate about giving back to society, caring, sharing and helping Gambians. We do not keep all the money we make, so every Gambian should support Gamcel to grow and develop The Gambia, ” she said.
She said every Gambian has a stake in Gamcel which she said currently has the best internet service in The Gambia.

Lamin Fofana, Marketing Communication Manager at Gamcel, said in adding value to their operations Gamcel believes that its customers have a large stake, which is why they always give back to them. “We want to add value to whatever we do and we believe customers deserve whatever they get from Gamcel, ” he said. He disclosed that Gamcel is known for transparency and it always fulfills its promises.
Buba Jagne, winner of the brand new SUV Korando (4 wheel) thanked Gamcel for the prize which he said changed his life forever.
