According to reliable sources, the letter which was sent from Football House in the past few days advises that the executive members of the Super Nawettan organising committee henceforth comprise only presidents of the 12 recognised zones.
The Standard yesterday contacted sources within the Super Nawettan committee who confirmed they have received the GFF letter and would be meeting over it this Sunday at the latest.
If adopted, the new recommendation means that the current president of the organising committee of the Super Nawettan, Lamin Camara of Lamin, will not be able to continue in his position as he is not currently a president of any zone. It could also mean that other members of the committee not necessarily zonal presidents will not be able to function and must give way.
Meanwhile, at its last meeting, the Super Nawettan committee has selected to amend critical sections of its rules and regulations especially those dealing with the method of punishment prescribed for those found guilty of causing violence.
The Standard reliably learnt that the organising committee is thinking of adopting stringent measures to curb violence which has been the headache. Among them, said our source, is a plan to include additional punishments such as banning repeated offending zones from holding their own nawettan championships.
