In GFF League: Real keeps slender lead

By John Mendy There’s no change at the top end after leaders Real showed everyone why they’re No.1 in the ongoing GFF First Division League week 13. Serekunda United 0-0 Bombada @ Brikama Serekunda United’s sparsely gathering of points now puts them four points off relegation battle after another draw with bottom placed team Bombada early on Friday. Following the goalless stalemate, both teams remains stock on respective positions before playing out the low-key game at an almost empty Brikama mini stadium; Serekunda United 8th with 12points while Bombada rocks bottom on 8points and have conceded ten goals in last five matches, an average of two goals per game. GAF 1 – 0 Tallinding United @ S/K East The soldiers continued their fine run of form over Coach Ebou Jarra’s former club to remain firmly in the title race, chasing on just a point behind leaders Real. Adama Jammeh’s eight minute strike was all but enough to see his mates sail over the T. Town Boys. GAF is in 2nd spot with 28points while Tallinding United garnered 14points from 13 games. Brikama United 0 – 1 Marimoo @ Box baa mini stadium Marimoo upsets Brikama United at box baa 1-0 to extend unbeaten run to 8 Division one League games on Sunday. An early Sainey Conteh’s solo strike just after half hour mark earned the Manjai based club a spirited victory, as the team stretches to an eighth match unbeaten run of form. Sulayman Kuyateh’s men may still be considered firm favourites to complete the season with at least silverware, but following Saturday’s poor showing at home, Brikama’s title push has suffered another setback. Although the “Satay Baa” outfit is still fourth on the table’s title chasing pack, a point ahead of holders Ports Authority who have played two games less, what is becoming a major cause for worry for Sulayman Kuyateh is Brikama’s inconsistency. That was already the team’s fifth loss of the season, the second to Marimoo and they are only 13 games into the season. Marimoo still occupies 3rd on 25points, 3 points chasing Armed Forces and 4 on Real. Samger 0-0 Steve Biko @ S/K East Both team’s struggle got them seated in the battle for survival in the relegation zone after playing out a tense and scrappy goalless draw. Biko, have not conceded in their last four outings and have managed to notch two wins both of which they won 1 nil against Gamtel and Tallinding United. Omar Jobe’s Samger are 10th while Lie Bojang’s Biko occupies 11th, both won 11points each. Hawks 1-3 Real @ Banjul Real de Banjul protected their fringe lead after another dominant display over Hawks on Saturday as Ansu Fatty’s men seven matches’ winless streak ropes on. ‘The Whites’ preserved the race to their 13 league title chase in an impressive 3-1 triumph. A brace from 18 year old Pa Omar Jobe fondly as Drogba in between Yankuba Jarju’s tenth league goal cancelled Lamin Charty’s third minute early goal for Hawks. Real now seats top with 29points while Hawks remained 5th on points with nine games to go.]]>
