The Gambia Football Federation will conclude its four-year Fifa Women’s football awareness and legacy programme, Live Your Goal- LVG- this Saturday, when the fifth and final edition of the Fifa LVG girls’ festival will be staged in Bansang.
The event, marking the successful conclusion of the LVG will naturally attract huge attendance and much pomp and pageantry. ”There will be a march past by selected schoolchildren from the Central River Region and also the SOS Children’s Village in Basse,” a statement from Football House said yesterday.
This will be followed by the usual tutelage where young girls acquire technical training skills from The Gambia’s Women’s Football Ambassadors after which the gathering will be addressed by the GFF president and other eminent stakeholders.
The GFF started implementing the Fifa LVG programe back in 2014 with the first two editions hosted in the Greater Banjul Area while Farafenni hosted the third edition followed by Soma which hosted the fourth edition coinciding with the official opening of the Fifa artificial turf there.
Live Your Goals among other things is designed by Fifa to raise awareness on the importance of women’s football and to create a platform for women and girls to realise their talents in football and to further encourage them to stay in the game.
In a separate development, the GFF wishes to also announce that its 2017/2018 season will begin in November on the 11th with a Super Cup Final between Gambia Armed Forces FC and Hawks FC for the start of the new season. As such, the traditional club Management meeting ( pre-season meeting ) between the clubs and the federation is slated today Friday, 20 October, at the Independence Stadium Friendship Hostel at 9am.
