President Adama Barrow has said that his administration will work closely with the world football governing body, FIFA to amicably solve the saga at the Gambia Football Federation.
“I think this problem with the Gambian football has been going on for too long during the time of the former minister and now the new minister. But our stand as a government is that we want to be on the same lane with Fifa because we do not want to be suspended,” he added.
He said if government is going to solve the problem they will have to work with Fifa because this is not a government issue alone. “Fifa must be involved. There were problems like this in other countries and even here during Buba Baldeh’s time as sport minister. There were problems that led to the suspension of GFA.We do not want to be involved in such things. We want to make sure that we are together with Fifa to make a decision to solve the issue. That is government’s position,” he stressed.
