By Omar Bah The Minister of the Interior, Ebrima Mballow has confirmed that his ministry has begun the training of its personnel on counter terrorism ahead of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Summit in 2019. “Although the OIC summit is not officially launched, the ministry found it necessary to put our services together so that we provide our logistics and do our necessary professional and operational planning before the summit,” he told The Standard in an exclusive interview yesterday. He further revealed that they are expecting some experts from Turkey who will further provide them expertise especially in the areas of counter terrorism. “We have put all necessary measures in place including and very importantly training our personnel on VIP protection,” he said. The Minister said the Gambia in 2006 hosted the African Union summit. “So it is going to be the same thing, we are just going to ensure that everybody is secured.
