Prominent PDOIS supporter and activist, Kemeseng Sanneh known as Kexx, was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Mam Samba Jallow of the Kanifing court accused of giving false information to the public.
Kexx was initially arrested in March following a case report he filed at a police station, alleging that unidentified people kidnapped him. The police later issued a statement suggesting his story was false and that he was in fact in a house with a marabout when the alleged kidnapping was supposed to have happened.
Police said Kexx claimed that he was kidnapped by three boys who forcefully got him into a vehicle and placed a towel on his nose, and made him inhale a substance that rendered him unconscious.
The court documents said Kexx also claimed to have been dumped at Erinjang cemetery on the 24th March 2021, which information he knew to be false and misleading.
Kexx, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was represented by Lawyer LS Camara.
He was subsequently granted bail in the sum of D50,000 with two Gambian sureties who must deposit their valid identity cards to the register of the court.
The matter is adjourned to 30th September for hearing. The IGP was represented by Sub-Inspector Lamin Jammeh.
