KIANG WEST MAKES IT TO DIVISION 2

Kiang has beaten Baddibu to become the first provincial block to reach the national league Division 2. That history was made at Soma where Kiang West FC emerged regional champions of the Lower River Region, a title that gives them the right to be promoted to the second division.
Three other champions from NBR, CRR and URR will also be promoted to the second division once they complete their regional championship as part of the GFF’s decentralization programme, (critics say vote-seeking programme Lol)
However for now Kiang is alive with joy when the boys from West paraded in front of a solid crowd and top GFF officials to be inducted into the history as the first provincial team to play in Division 2.

The Champions of NBR is likely to come from Niumi not Baddibu.
The Kiang East district team made up of 33 villages, reached this stage after resoundingly beaten Jarra Central 3-0 in the regional final played at GFF Soma Mini Stadium.
Lamin Daffeh opened the scores for Kiang but Jarra Central went on a self-destructive journey inflicting an own goal before Daffeh returned to seal the day with another goal.
The next challenge in the GFF decentralization programme is how to effectively run a league involving teams across regions separated by long distances. “Well the GFF has made adequate back up plans for the realization of this decentralization programme and I am sure it will work well,” assured Sang Ndong Technical director.
