The National Sports Council NSC under the Ministry of Youth and Sports MoYS over the weekend successfully implemented the Coalition Unity football championship sponsored by government to encourage unity and friendship among the youth players from around the country.
Eight teams representing all the 7 regions and the zone of Brufut participated in the tourney, which ended in the final on Sunday with KM winning Brufut on penalties to take the trophy. The Lower River Region won the bronze medal after beating NBR in the 3rd place classification match. The champions KM got D50,000 cash prize ,gold medals and a giant trophy, The vice champions Brufut received D25, 000 and silver medals while LRR pocketed D15, 000 as winners of 3rd place.
As part of the preparations each team received preparatory budgets of D10,000 and more depending on how far they come , a set of jerseys in addition D10, 000 consolation prize to the five teams that did not win medals.
All provincial regions were lodged at the Independence Stadium Hostel.
The final was witnessed by the out going Minister of youth and Sports Henry Gomez and officials from MoYS and the NSC.
The organizers received praises for the successful implementation of the tourney.
