A young man, Cherno Sulayman Jallow, had his hand cut off with a machete during a street fight at Serekunda London Corner last week.
In a video seen by The Standard, the neatly cleaved wrist of Jallow was seen hanging by a thin skin.
One Aziz Ndow, who is believed to be mentally unbalanced, was said to have carried out the abscission.
The Standard has learnt that Ndow has since been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm and is awaiting trial.
The police said the incident was reported at the London corner Police station last week. Spokesman ASP Lamin Njie explained: “The police received information about certain individuals fighting on the streets of London Corner. Immediately a team was dispatched to the scene. It was realised that Cherno Sulayman Jallow was assaulted with a cutlass by Aziz Ndow causing him injury. The victim was evacuated to Serekunda General Hospital where he was admitted, treated and later discharged.”
