Mr Karamo Jadama, regional chairman of United Democratic Party for North Bank Region has said any rumour or speculation suggesting that a dispute has emerged between UDP leader Ousainou Darboe and President Barrow is false.
Mr Jadama was speaking in the NDR where he led a five-man UDP National Assembly Members tour recently. “Let me make it clear Darboe and President Barrow have never had any disagreement and the rumour is being spread by detractors who want to gain from that unfounded rumour,” Jadama told hundreds of UDP supporters in NBR.
Jadama however maintained that the UDP has always been one party and it never allows any other political group to be formed within the party because that can bring division.
“From day one President Barrow said Mr Darboe is his father and though Barrow today is the president on an independent ticket, his origins are from the UDP,” he said.
Jadama also admitted that some people want to bring misunderstanding between Darboe and Barrow or even in the UDP but the leadership of UDP will not allow anyone to mislead the Gambian people.
According to Jadama their tour of NBR was sanctioned by party leader Ousainou Darboe to enlighten the people in the said five constituencies about the upcoming Local Government Election scheduled for 12 April.
He advised the people of NBR to select competent persons who can win and anyone selected by the people should be supported by all.
