Irish philanthropist Father Seamus Fleming said he would “definitely love” to meet President Adama Barrow.
To that effect, he said he has since sent a request to the Office of the President in Fajara.
According to him, his desire to meet the President again, who he earlier met in England – is borne out of the fact that the President is a “very good man and because he brings back hope and courage” to the people of the Gambia.
“So I wanted to meet him and thank him profoundly. I really believe he will be a great President, for he has that calming influence and doesn’t like fighting and always tries to do things within the dictates of the law. That is one quality of a good leader.”
Fleming, who came to the Gambia first in 1961, is renowned for supporting several youths, men and especially women across the country particularly in Basse, Foni and Greater Banjul areas in various aspects. He also has several ongoing projects and is currently building a clinic in Bullock.
And he said it is through one of his projects that President Barrow got his early learninig opportunity, as he attended a school he built in Basse.
“The President attended Mankamang School in Jimara, [Basse] a school I built as part of my various projects in the country.”
Father, who also said he has seen “tremendous improvements” since Barrow came to power, called on the people to rally behind the President and support his initiatives.
Father, who was earlier hailed as “God-sent” by the people of Wassadou, expressed his love for the ‘New Gambia’, and even said he wish to “die in the Gambia” one day.
