Police prosecution team in the court case involving the Gambia Democratic Congress parliamentarian and councilor in Jimara constituency has requested for the court to adjourn the case to avail them ample time to seek legal advice.

When the case was called yesterday at the Basse Magistrates Court packed with GDC supporters and party executives, the police prosecutors in the case appealed for the Magistrate to adjourn the case.
The case was subsequently adjourned to 18 and 19 of June 2018 for continuation.
Hon. Alhagie H. Sowe and the newly elected councilor Ebrima Manneh and a host of others were arrested and charged with assault.

But Hon. Sowe has since described the incident as ‘politically motivated’, saying their problem was the fact that the GDC party wins the NAM seat in Jimara and that of the Julangel Ward.
