Representing the president and commander-in-chief of the Gambia Armed Forces, Vice President Isatou Touray yesterday laid a wreath at the Cenotaph at the McCarthy Square in Banjul to commemorate Remembrance Day 2021.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, ministers, chairman of the Gambian Legion, the chief of defence staff, members of the diplomatic corps and others joined to observe a two-minute silence at 9:30am to commemorate those who died in military conflicts during the world wars.
Scores of servicemen lined up around the Cenotaph, and nearly 100 veterans marched past the war memorial, watched by large crowds.
