One Omar Mbowe, a robbery suspect who was accused alongside one Alagie Camara and Sheikh Joof of robbing Chinese nationals at Old Yundum village at the beginning of July last year has been arrested by the Anti-Crime Unit of the Gambia Police Force.
Omar Mbowe fled the country and was a fugitive in the Casamance when his co-accused persons were arrested, remanded and arraigned at the High Court in Banjul.
They were indicted on five counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, rape, indecent assault and housebreaking and burglary.
Mbowe was arrested by officers of the Anti-Crime Unit of the Gambia Police Force after he sneaked back into the country. He was arraigned yesterday at the High Court where he took his plea and denied charges against him by the state.
The matter being presided over by Justice Ebrima Jaiteh has been adjourned to 5 July.
