A group dedicated to helping the less-heeled individuals and children dubbed Ding-Ding Yiriwa Federation, an affiliate of Child Fund-The Gambia, Tuesday supported 20 victims of disaster.
The federation gave them building materials such as corrugated iron sheets, bags of cement, nail roofing timber and metal doors said to be worth around D266,000.00.
The victims also received four goats and a sheep.
Bakary Seedy Dampha, program and sponsorship coordinator, Ding-Ding Yiriwa Fedaration, said the donation is for affected families enrolled in their programs.
He said: “We also invest in skills training for the young ones to acquire requisite skills to be able to be productive in the community as well as be economically empowered.”
Also speaking at the event, the Communications Specialist, Child Fund The Gambia, Famara Fofana, said: “We know girls are faced with daunting challenges. We have to give them all the support. By doing so, they will be economically empowered, they will not be very dependent on others”.
Yusupha Jassey, site chairperson, Sanyang Community Association, said: “We did an assessment exercise designed to help the affected families with corrugated iron sheets and bags of cement to those that are affected.
Borry Jammeh, a beneficiary, thanked the federation.
