The deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Justice, Ramatoulie Sarr has been appointed secretary to the Janneh Commission replacing Alagie Mamadi Kurang who was sacked recently.
According to Justice Minister Abubacarr Tambadou, Kurang’s position became untenable after he made unproven allegation against the Commission Counsel, Amie Bensouda.
Kurang wrote a letter to President Barrow accusing Bensouda of “orchestrating political interference in frustrating” the sale of impounded tractors of former President Jammeh, manipulation and interference of the commission’s budget by authorizing or engaging in “wasteful and unnecessary foreign trips while commission staff salaries remain unpaid among other allegations among other things.
Mr Kurang who said he had not been officially told of his sacking, was spotted at Djembe Beach Hotel where the commission sits but has not attended the proceedings and his seat was occupied by Mrs Sarr as the new secretary to the commission.
