Nine men from Bajakunda village in Wuli are being held for allegedly stabbing a man who is now in coma.
The nine, currently held at the Sare Ngai Police Station, are said to have attacked one Alagie Juwara, a newly-wed ‘semester’ from Spain.
According to reports, the incident happened after an altercation between the Alagie and a gang of area boys one of whom he accused of continuously harassing his new wife with unwanted calls, sometimes even in death of the night.
On Tuesday, our source in the village said while Alagie was with his wife her phone rang and it was the same man again.
The upset husband went to confront the molestor over his unwanted phone calls to his wife and in the altercation and melee that followed, friends of the harasser reportedly stabbed Alagie with a broken bottle, apparently grievously injuring him.
Our source said the matter was reported to Sare Ngai police who promptly rounded up the harasser and his gang memberspresent at the fracas.
The latest reports indicate that Alagie is admitted at Bansang Hospital with his wife by his side. A police source confirmed the incident but declined to give details.
