Demba Bilal Tandia, one of the finest Serahule musicians known for his spectacular music and artistic stage performances is due to arrive on December 12 and will a make a contribution towards the construction of a multipurpose educational and vocational skills centre allocated to the Serahule Youth Development Organisation by the government.
Staying true to his authentic cultural music, his brilliant instruments and empowering lyrics make every music lover sane and earned him respect. And simply, Demba Bilal Tandia is regarded as one of the best musician of the 21st century. He did numerous collaborations with Serahule and none Serahule musicians such as Mbaye Gaye Faye of Senegal, Lassana Hawa of France and other popular artistes.
Essa Conteh, president of the Serahule Youth Development Organisation said of his visit: “This is not Demba Tandia’s first visit to The Gambia. He is well-appreciated by all Serahules and non-Serahules because of the fine and quality music he displays. He is a man of integrity and loves everyone regardless of colour, tribe or religion. He is coming to The Gambia in relations to our multipurpose centre that we are yet to construct in Basse Manneh Kunda.
“I am calling on everyone to emulate what Demba has done because he is fully responsible for all his expenses and the profit gained from his concerts will be given to the organisation to construct the multipurpose centre. This is a centre which everybody will benefit from because skills are important for the life-time experience that every human being needs. This multipurpose centre will complement government’s effort in creating more job opportunities for the young people. We have seen the recent involvement of our young people embarking on the perilous ‘back way’ journey and precious lives have been lost. The saddest thing is that the majority comes from URR and I think the location of the centre is at the right. I want to promise everybody that this trip cannot be compared with his previous trips in The Gambia. Preparations are at high gear and all hands are on deck for its success with lots of surprises. Other Serahule musicians in The Gambia will also perform.”
Tandia’s tour of the country will start from the December 13 to 20 covering both the rural and urban areas of the country. He will travel to four different Serahule villages and hold a grand show at Alliance Francaise.
