SJAG, MoYS Meet Over April 20 Award Night

The President of the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG), Mr Musa Sise, on Friday met Sports minister, Mr. Hadrammeh Sidibeh to brief him on the upcoming 10th edition of the association’s National Sports Awards Night.
The 2019 edition is scheduled on Saturday, 20th April, at the Coco Ocean Hotel in Bijilo.
Musa Sise informed the minister that preparations were at an advanced stage for the event which is expected to be attended by sports personalities within and outside the country.
He disclosed that the invitees include Senegalese Sports Minister Matarr Bah, the Bissau Guinea Sports Minister, Senegal coach Aliou Cisse, Henry Camara, and UK-based Gambian sprinter Nusrat Ceesay.

“We will also be joined by our counterparts from the Senegalese Sports Journalists’ Association (ANPS), who will also play a friendly football match with our members on Friday, 19th April at the FIFA Goal Project in Yundum,” Mr Ceesay to the minister.
Ceesay expressed hope that the Ministry could be involved, as a key player in the development of sports.
In response Minister Sidibeh expressed delight at receiving the SJAG delegation. He applauded the initiative by the association to celebrate sports men and women for their hard work.

“The sports journalists are critical partners to the development and promotion of sports.”
He assured of his ministry’s support and involvement in the event. Such an event, he added, could serve as a source of inspiration for their younger generation.
Mr Ceesay was accompanied by Uthman Jeng, 1st Vice President of SJAG.
