dt empire

Afro-beat trio band DT Empire has been the highlight of Gambian music industry since inception in 2018. Blending the afrobeat and afro-manding rhythm to produce irresistible melody that gets people tapping their feet.  The trio band has won the hearts of many music lovers with their distinctive music.

Despite having the talent and exquisite potential to venture into other professions, the trio settled for music as a career.

“That’s what we have passion for, because in life whatever one’s interest is you must have passion for it, for us we love music and decided to focus on it.”

Although every journey encounters setbacks before hitting the spotlight, theirs was “the low encouragement we received from people while emerging and that has served as motivation for us to work even harder in order to achieve our goals and yes, we finally did it.”

Driven by determination and hard work, DT Empire aims to raise the bar for Gambian music industry “because in recent years, we have seen how afro-beat is pushing to the world by other African countries, and that triggers our attention as we want Gambian music to be noticed worldwide.”

In an exclusive with Standard Lite, the band boys reveal they are working on their debut album that will be released after a month.

The album, titled #Banjul to the world will consist of 17 songs (Nyaka faydeh, and African leaders) these two songs form part of the album that talk about the reality life challenges that we encounter in society and how African leaders play politics on us.

Watch out for this is album; it is a must listen album.  The album also has 3 features with two Senegalese musician the late Papa Thione Seck, Jahman Express and in The Gambia, Attack and E Nyassi.

The band addressed the issue of copyrights which they described as a major obstacle to Gambian music and urged authorities to help provide copyrights law so that artists will have ownership of their music and will also boost the industry to more standard level.
