Maka Barz climbs a step up after international collabo
Malick Secka, aka Maka Barz, has upped his game after having a collabo with Villain, a UK-based Gambian artist.
The song titled # Fo-Touch has generated 5.9k views on YouTube a week after its release.
Maka hopes to use this song as a springboard for his musical journey and other upcoming international projects. Maka said he is currently working on other international collabos, also making singles and letting off some music videos too.
He disclosed a worked-on EP Daga fogoneh Duma Dara which consists of 5 songs and will be shared with the world in a month.

O Boy & Gambian Child on the cusp of history despite permit saga
Gambian Afro-Manding band boys, O Boy and Gambian Child are set to make another astounding moment at their debut 8-song album launch tomorrow at QCity in Bijilo.
Titled Jutunaya, a Mandinka word for looking low upon, was inspired by the artist’s experience over the years and deems it necessary to use his voice to advocate and stop the demeaning and unfairness in the music industry.
He also revealed that his latest released music video, Ajindi, bring down, generally talks about anything that is not good should be flushed out. “For example, if politicians are not delivering to expectation flush them out!”
He concluded by acknowledging all the people that patronized him in buying tickets, also all the companies that reached out to sponsor.
Int’l visual artist showcases artwork to connect ancestral land to diaspora
International visual artist, Charmaine Minniefield showcased her artwork in The Gambia a bid to build bridges between her ancestral land to the American diaspora.
“Our dance becomes our prayers, that our communities play the drums together in complex language of communities, and those clothes and houses we are gathered in are secret steels to us. The dance was all to ingrain us and our African identity so that one day we may find our way home,” she was quoted saying.
Tonto Dikeh bags UN position, given an official number plate
Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has taken to social media about her career updates with fans and the online community.
In a recent post on Instagram, Tonto announced that she was recently honored as an international ambassador for the UN rescue services.
Dikeh accompanied her post with a video showing moments she was officially given recognition.
J HUS nominated for BRIT awards
British Gambian rapper Momodou Lamin Jallow, better known professionally as J HUS, has nominated for this year’s BRIT Awards.
Co-hosts Nick Grimshaw and this year’s BRITs Rising Star winner Griff took fans through the nine shortlists, with all winners to be revealed at the main show on May 11 at The O2 arena in London, broadcast on ITV and ITV Hub, and hosted by Jack Whitehall.
Out in front are a trio of standout British women who have all had an exceptional year; each earning three nominations across various categories.
Dua Lipa, who has been confirmed to perform at the main show, Arlo Parks and 2020’s BRITs Rising Star winner Celeste are all nominated for Female Solo Artist and Mastercard Album, with Dua Lipa also in the running for British Single.
J HUS was nominated for his hit 2020 album titled Big Conspiracy.
