Sheriff Tambadou, a leading lawyer and one of the six prosecutors of the high profile trial of former NIA boss and colleagues, is reported to have recused himself from the case, a reliable source told The Standard.
The much respected legal practitioner’s latest action came after a leaked audio on a conversation he supposedly had with the wife of first accused Yankuba Badjie, the former NIA boss went viral online, sparking a heated debate among Gambians at home and abroad with many calling for him to quit his role as a prosecutor in the case. Mr. Tambadou himself had not said much but was quoted by regional international broadcaster West Africa Democracy Radio WADR to have confirmed his intention to quit.
