— Staff to begin sit-down tomorrow Tension heats up at the University of The Gambia staff of the university said they will begin a sit-down tomorrow to protest against the Senior Management Team of the university who they accused of corruption and embezzlement. The UTGSA, a disgruntled cohort of the staff, said yesterday at a press conference that they will not go to lecture the students if the vice chancellor and the senior management team don’t resign forthwith. The two groups have been at loggerheads for a week now over the alleged purchase of 6 new vehicles amounting to eight million dalasi. The SMT had early denied such allegations and had said they in fact sponsored some members of the UTGSA to do further degrees both in and outside the country. However, the staff are not settling for anything less than their resignation and will stop going to the university starting from tomorrow. They said the SMT must be dissolved and the vacancies open for competent people to apply.]]>
