The lust for power

The lust for power

Has been the root cause of destruction

For many Africa Leaders

Who had believed that

They are God sent Messiahs

To salvage their countries.

They institute a tyrannic regime

To defend and protect themselves

So as to perpetuate their tenure.

Power is sweeter than honey

When it’s vested onto the right hands

But “absolute power corrupts absolutely”.

A leader’s sense of morality lessens

As his or her power increases.

That is, as his or her greed for power

Increases like Corona Virus

He would desire for the total control of power.

The lust for power

Makes aspiring leaders to even sacrifice

All what it takes to cling to power

Through the ballot box or the use of bullets

Or any other immoral act.

Macbeth’s lust for power

Made him to murder King Duncan

So as to be promoted to:

*Thane of Cawdor and King.*

The lust for power

Intoxicates the African crown

By making him a predator

Hunting its preys as meals

Just to defend his throne

Up to the biggest planet *”Jupiter.”*

The crown will go too far

In transforming a correction center

To a butchery for the experimentation of souls.

The lust for power

Makes African Leaders to decorate themselves

With absurdly long titles without merits

As in the case of the following leaders:

? *Joseph Mobutu* – “Mobutu Sese Seko Kuku Ngbendu Waza Banga.” Meaning ‘The Warrior who goes from Conquest Leaving Fire in his Wake.’

? *President Kamuzu Banda* – “President Ngwazi Dr Hastings Kamuzu Banda, Life President of the Republic of Malawi.”

? *President Idi Amin* – “His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshall Al Hadji Dr Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular. “

? *President Yahya Jammeh* – “His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Abdul-Aziz Awal Jemus Junkung Jammeh Naasiru Deen Babili Mansa.” Babili Mansa means Bridge Builder, or Conqueror of Rivers, in Mandinka.
