Scorpions midfielder Tijan Jaiteh has completed a move to Qatari side Al-Markhiya Sports Club.
The 28-year-old, who signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Bnei Yehuda earlier this year, left the Israeli club after less than a season to move to Doha.
Promoted side Al-Markhiya confirmed a host of new signings including the Gambia international as they begin to prepare for the new 2017/2018 Qatar Stars League (top-tier) season.
The Gambia international has joined up with his team-mates and will be charged with helping the newly promoted side to avoid the drop.
Speaking on the club’s new acquisition, Al-Markhiya’s head of football Mujib Hamad said: “Tijan Jaiteh’s signing will be crucial for us. He is a tough defensive midfielder and will be needed over the course of the season.”
It is unclear how many years the former Sandefjord, SK Brann, Sandnes Ulf and FC Koper player signed with the club but it is believed he will stay on until the end of the season with an option to extend.
Al-Markhiya Sports Club are four-time winners of the Qatargas League (second-tier) having won it in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2017 respectively.
