Coach of the Young Scorpions (U-20) Mattar Alieu Mboge whose team will represent The Gambia in the WAFU eight- nation tourney in Monrovia, will talk of his plans and preparation at noon today.
The GFF announced the coach will host a press conference at Football House at 12 noon where among other things he will reveal the final line up of players selected for the assignment which starts with Guinea on April 25.
The WAFU Zone A will feature two groups of four with the top two finishers to play the semifinals,
The Gambia’s participation in Wafu of late ended in fiasco. The country controversially walked out of the final in Senegal while it was dumped out of the much recent one by a dubious penalty by Ghana.
Coach Mattar Mboge is expected to change all that by negotiating his way through the group that also include Mali and Senegal.
Meanwhile the coach and his men have moved to camp at the Football Hotel in Yundum.
The team will play GPA and Hawks during the week before leaving in few days time.
The WAFU Championship opens on Tuesday April 24th with hosts Liberia taking on Cape Verde in the opener at 3:30pm at the Samuel K Doe Stadium in Monrovia while Guinea Bissau and Sierra Leone meet at 6:00pm the same day. The Gambia opens its account the following day Wednesday April 25th with Guinea at 6:00pm.
