UTG welcomes lecturers from Nigeria

The Nigerian High Commissioner to The Gambia, HE Oluwasegun Ibidapo-Obe, Wednesday afternoon presided over the handing-over of the first batch of 15 biennium of technical aid corps volunteers to the University of The Gambia for 2017 -2018.
The brief ceremony, held at the Nigerian High Commission in Kanifing, welcomed the professors and PhD holders in different fields.

High Commissioner Ibe said the volunteers are the cream of academic in Nigeria, with a wealth of experience in various fields and their presence at the UTG will greatly contribute to the development of the institution.
He told them that Gambia is a peaceful country and has long cordial relationship with Nigeria while advising them to be law-abidin.

The Director of Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) Oduniyi Afolabi, said the team are committed and determine to work with UTG. He said the second batch is expected to join them in two weeks.
The Vice Chancellor the University of The Gambia, Professor, Dr Faqir Muhammad Anjum Chaudhry, expressed appreciation to Nigerian Government for helping the Gambia in the area of human resource development and other areas. He welcomed the lecturers, telling them to feel at home.
