Bushfire engulfed the Livestock Innovation Centre (formerly ITC) in Kiang Keneba Monday night killing at least 22 goats and sheep.
Confirming the tragedy to The Standard, LIC station manager Mamadou Jeng said: “It was rather unfortunate that even though we defended the complex with a fire belt, the strong winds spread the flames into the station overwhelmingly and before help could come from the MRC, the animals perished in the fire. Even one of our residences caught fire and our animal grazing area too got burnt,” he said.
