The President of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Adama Barrow will be honoured by the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma-Edo State, Nigeria, with an honorary degree at its 22nd Convocation starting Friday, October 11.
Also to be honoured are the Chairman of EcoBank Transnational Corporation, Lagos, Mr Emmanuel Ikhazoboh, the chief executive officer/managing director of DAF Homes & Estate Limited, Lagos, Dr Dorry Afe Okojie.
Others include Retired General Anthony Ukpo from Lagos, and business mogul, Chief (Dr) Ezekiel Ainabe, a native of Ekpoma.
The public relations officer of the university, Mr Edward Aihevba said the honouring of The Gambian president would be the beginning of recognition of progressive African leaders by the University.
Aihevba added that the recognition of the Gambian leader would also create linkages between AAU and institutions in The Gambia, like it already does with institutions in Ghana.
He further stated that the coming of the Gambian president would make the convocation ceremony more robust as He and his ministers are invited.
The AAU image maker explained that others awarded would be honoured based on their achievements and contributions to Nigeria’s development.
He pointed out that Chief Ezekiel Ainabe would be honoured for both his achievements to national development and contribution to the development of AAU, recalling that he was a donor during the endowment fund raising at the commencement of the university.
He equally stated that the award is expected to create a relationship between the university and the awardees, by which in the next five years their contributions would have engineered lots of development in the university.
