The public relations officer of the university, Mr Edward Aihevba said the honouring of The Gambian president would be the beginning of recognition of progressive African leaders by the University.

Aihevba added that the recognition of the Gambian leader would also create linkages between AAU and institutions in The Gambia, like it already does with institutions in Ghana.

The AAU image maker explained that others awarded would be honoured based on their achievements and contributions to Nigeria’s development.

He pointed out that Chief Ezekiel Ainabe would be honoured for both his achievements to national development and contribution to the development of AAU, recalling that he was a donor during the endowment fund raising at the commencement of the university.

He equally stated that the award is expected to create a relationship between the university and the awardees, by which in the next five years their contributions would have engineered lots of development in the university.
