Arrested Faraba protesters released

At least seven people from Faraba who were arrested by police in connection with a recent protest over mining rights at the village quarry have been released.
They include personnel of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU).

The arrested men are Alagie Bambo Sanyang, VDC chairman, Sanna Jassey, Karafa Jibba, Lamin Prince Sanyang, Mafugi Ceesay, Lamin Ceesay, Bubacar Jaiteh, and Momodou Kujabi are said to have spent at least a night at the serious crime unit at the Banjul police headquarters.
Sources revealed that the seven were released on police bail following the intervention of some of the villagers.
