Asian investors conclude visit to Gambia

A group of investors from South East Asia concluded a mission in The Gambia on Thursday 6 December 2018 with the registration of an International Bank. The 15-member delegation mainly from Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Singapore, and Thailand also promised to invest in the agriculture and energy sectors soon. While in The Gambia, the group paid a courtesy call on the Vice President Alhaji Ousainu Darboe, and the Minister of Trade, Alhaji Amadou Sanneh. The delegation was led by Businessmen Tan Sri Dr. Axinjuelue Yuhao, who also doubles as the Gambia’s Ambassador at Large and a Gambian businessman Kebba K. Krubally. They also expressed their desire to invest in the Gambia’s painting and construction industries amongst others. Speaking to reporters the head of the delegation and Gambia’s Ambassador at Large Dr. Axinjuelue Yuhao said their discussions with the Vice Presidency centered on some key investment areas such as housing and international banking. The Trade Minister, Amadou Sanneh described the investors’ initiative as timely and informed them of his ministry’s plans to encourage more investors into the country and assured them of the ministry’s full support. The Gambia’s Ambassador at Large Tan Sri Dr. Axinjuelue Yuhao and Chou Wen Chuang from Malaysia, said they will focused mainly on Construction, Technology and Agriculture, and Banking sectors. The Director of industry and investment at the ministry of Trade, Hassan Sering Gaye underscored the importance of investment noting that it helps to promote trade and create job opportunities. Also speaking to reporters, a business partner to the South East Asian Investors, Kebba K. Krubally who is also the Deputy Managing Director of Rasland International Company said they have already invested and established a cotton industry in Upper River Region. Mr. Kurubally also told reporters that he and his Rasland Group together South East Asian Investors will use the conducive business environment provided by the Gambia government to transform the country into Singapore of West Africa. Mr. Krubally who is also the Proprietor of KKK Fishing and Trading, as well as an agent of fishing trawlers in the Gambia and Senegal has been appointed to serve as a general committee member of West Africa Economic, Trade, and Corporation Association.]]>
