By Ebrima Jallow The APRC candidate for Bakau Constituency has vowed to make women empowerment her top priority if elected in the forthcoming National Assembly election. Speaking to The Standard in an exclusive interview at her residence, Kumba Barry, said: “If you see I take this challenge it is because I want women empowerment and youths in the National Assembly as the decision making body. I am not going there only for myself or any other thing, I am going there for Bakau because I want to see changes in Bakau.” When asked what she has for the women she represents and the youths which form the majority, she said: “I will give them the support they need and anything they need from me I will make sure I help them. Now that we are in a campaign, when I go to the parliament I will know what to do. I am expecting victory; I never go for defeat.” “Campaigns and elections are tough but I am praying to Allah the Almighty who gives and takes, to give me victory. I have a big challenge in Bakau because I have two opponents, UDP and GDC, but I thank God all my party militants including my family, my executive committee and council of elders are all behind me and they will give all the support I need,” Barry said.]]>
