The National Assembly members for Niamina East and Serekunda West have blamed President Adama Barrow for failing to tackle the government of Germany over the continuing deportation of Gambians.

Speaking to The Standard, Omar Ceesay of GDC and Madi Ceesay of the UDP, blamed the Barrow government for allowing the German government to deport Gambians youths “for no reason”.

Omar Ceesay, who is also the national president of opposition GDC, said the Germans are deporting Gambians because of an agreement between the two countries and that President Barrow as leader of The Gambia Government should shoulder the blame.

“This is sad. How can you sacrifice your life to get something for your family and after reaching your destination, you are returned empty-handed. This is why the majority of our boys who are returned from Europe are mad,” he said, and   called on the government to negotiate with the German government.

”You know you are not going to provide them any job, so why do you want to bring them back? Some of them could even kill themselves because their life has already been damaged,” he claimed.

Madi Ceesay of Serekunda West called on government to act before the situation gets out of hand since the German government has announced plans to carry out more deportations.

Ceesay added: ”Some of our youths sold their families’ livestock or land just to fund their travel to Europe and our government has the audacity to make agreements to bring them back. I am asking Gambians if this is the type of government we want to lead us?” he asked.
